Dr. Yang’s teaching focuses on facilitating cultivation of mindfulness and compassion in psychiatric care. He has given numerous presentations at UCSF-SFGH and at professional conferences locally, nationally and internationally. He wrote a treatment manual for conducting staff spirituality groups. The manual contain instructional information on managing negative emotions, and cultivating mindfulness and positive emotions such as empathy and compassion.
Dr. Yang has been actively involved in the Chinese community to promote mental health awareness, disease prevention and advocate for early treatment of mental illness. He has given numerous public lectures about stress reduction, emotional management, cultivation of happiness and recovery from mental illness.
